- Member: VGR
- Level: Mentor/Editor
- Introduction: After having graduated in Massively Parallel Computing and Mathematical Engineering, VGR gained roughly 15 years professional experience, split between SSII in France and sub-contracting abroad for clients all over the world, sometimes thanks to his ranks on experts-exchange. Reached the top-100 Experts Hall of Fame and "Guru" level on ee.com in PHP and MySql areas in less than one year 2002-2003 now a tired old site, and left to help lay ground for European Experts Exchange in October 2003. Has helped others learn continuously since 2002 on various sites.
- Topics: Algorithmics and Optimisation, all L3G except COBOL, all Web-related, Win32-related, *nix-related, some hardware and network.
- Background: VGR started programming in BASIC with machines like Casio PB-100, Apple ][ euro+, Dai and Oric-1); quickly moved to Pascal (UCSD) and evolved through all versions of Turbo-Pascal, Delphi and Kylix. Started SQL when the standard DB was dBase 3+, now uses Oracle, SQL-Server and MySql. Discovered portable computers with the Osborne, loved Sinclair QL and Amstrad machines. Was forced to move from lovely Digital Research's DR-DOS and GEM3 GUI to Windows 3.0. Now tries to stay away from Zindoze as much as possible but also uses a Win2K server.
- Personal: Vincent "Hefiz" GRAUX is a Frenchman born May 1966 and started programming in 1979. He has not stopped since then. He shared his time during youth with RPGs since 1981, and he is RPGA Regional Director since 1989. He started making web sites in 1993 www.hefiz.net, and has not stopped since. His other interests include reading a lot about history, heroic fantasy & science-fiction, a "bandes dessinées" (roughly, comics) collection www.bdniouzes.net, chasing Car Tuning fanatics, Sailing on restored Wooden Boats, taking care of his collector cars www.fecj.org/928/ and www.fecj.org/r21tq/, dancing RnR and developing free tools to share with others.
Cartesianism, franchise with a bit of irony, the love of Truth, the worship of Knowledge, a tempered perfectionnism, that's VGR.
